Registration Services
The registration service, based at the Register Office, 6a Bugle Street is responsible for the civil registration of all births, stillbirths, deaths, marriages and civil partnerships taking place within the city of Southampton.
In addition it maintains the registers for all these events plus Church of England marriages dating back to 1 July 1837 and issues certified copies of the entries. It is also responsible for licensing venues where civil marriages and partnerships may be solemnised and conducting civil marriage and partnership ceremonies.
As part of the registration service, Southampton offers a wide choice of celebratory ceremonies including naming ceremonies and renewal of vows ceremonies.
In addition Southampton Registration Service offers a Nationality Checking Service as well as administering and conducting British Citizenship ceremonies.

News Update
On the 1st March 2010 The Identity and Passport Service announced increases to some of the fees payable under the Marriage and Registration Acts and Civil Partnership Act 2004. In addition, it was also announced that there would be the introduction of a new fee for the issuing of certificates of birth, death and marriage by registrars after the time of registration.
